Solar System Pricing

Solar systems are unique to your roof, electrical panel, and energy use — so we don't lock you into a flat online quote. The ranges below show typical Northern Virginia pricing for Solstice solar panels, Solstice solar shingles, and the battery/inverter add-ons that turn a grid-tied system into outage-ready backup.

Why we won't put a single flat price on solar

Two NoVA homes the same size can have a 40% difference in solar cost — south-facing vs. north-facing roof, tree shading, panel-count needed for a target offset, electrical panel capacity, battery storage, and Dominion vs. NOVEC net-metering rules all stack into the final number. Flat-pricing it online would mislead you. Instead, the ranges below are the typical NoVA window per system size and product line. Our in-home solar consultation walks through your actual roof, panel, and energy bill to design a system that pays back honestly.

What Affects Your Solar Cost

Product Line

Rack-mounted Solstice solar panels are the most cost-efficient way to add generation. Solstice solar shingles integrate solar into the roof itself — best when you're replacing the roof anyway.

System Size (kW)

Larger systems cost more in absolute dollars but the per-Watt cost drops as you scale up. Sized to offset 80-100% of your annual bill in most cases.

Roof Orientation & Shading

South-facing unshaded roofs produce the most kWh per panel or shingle. East/west cuts production ~15-20%; heavy shading can drop a system's value to nearly zero.

Battery Storage

Optional. A 10 kWh battery covers essentials backup; 20 kWh handles most of the home; bigger banks cover whole-home + EV. None of these are required for solar to work — they're for outage protection and rate arbitrage.

Hybrid Inverter (Off-Grid Capable)

Without a hybrid inverter, a grid-tied solar system shuts off when the grid goes down. The hybrid inverter upgrade enables daytime backup even without a battery; paired with a battery, it provides full outage coverage.

Electrical Panel Capacity

Many older homes need a smart panel upgrade to support solar plus EV charging or heat pumps. We size the panel to your future load, not just today's.
